Description Bactigras is an antiseptic soft paraffin dressing used for wound management. It consists of an open-weave gauze cloth impregnated with soft paraffin and chlorhexidine. The dressing soothes and protects the wound while helping to reduce infection and inflammation. It has low adherence and permits free drainage of exudate into an absorbent secondary dressing. Bactigras is indicated for minor burns, lacerations, abrasions, skin graft sites, and leg ulcers. Chlorhexidine provides activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including MRSA. Antiseptic efficacy is maintained in the presence of serum and blood. The open-weave gauze structure maintains its shape and resists fraying when cut to size. Available in multiple sizes. How to use Apply as a primary wound contact layer. Cover with an absorbent secondary dressing, as Bactigras is not absorbent on its own. Change dressing as clinically indicated. Ingredients Soft paraffin, chlorhexidine, open-weave gauze. Contraindications / Precautions Do not apply to more than 10% of body surface area. Not for use in patients with known sensitivity or allergy to chlorhexidine. Rare cases of dermatitis, contact sensitivity, or photosensitivity may occur. Anaphylactic reactions to chlorhexidine have been reported rarely. Avoid contact with eyes, middle ear, meninges, and brain. Do not use with oxidising wound cleaning agents, soap, other anionic materials, or potassium iodide. Seek immediate medical attention for serious wounds and burns, or if redness or discomfort develops.
