Vicks NyQuil Severe Cold, Flu & Congestion Liquicaps, 24 Count Description This combination medicine provides temporary relief from symptoms associated with the common cold, flu, allergies, and other respiratory conditions such as sinusitis and bronchitis. It contains dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant that works on the brain to reduce the coughing reflex. Acetaminophen (APAP) acts as a pain reliever and fever reducer. Antihistamines are included to ease watery eyes, itchy eyes, nose and throat, runny nose, and sneezing. This medication is generally not intended for persistent coughs caused by smoking, asthma, or chronic breathing conditions such as emphysema, nor for coughs producing significant mucus, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Cough-and-cold products have not been proven safe or effective in children under 6 years of age. Do not use this product for cold symptoms in children younger than 6 years unless specifically instructed by a doctor. Certain formulations, including long-acting tablets and capsules, are not recommended for children under 12 years. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for guidance on safe use. These products do not cure the common cold or reduce its duration, and they may carry serious side effects. Follow all dosage instructions carefully to minimise this risk. Do not use this product to induce sleep in a child. Avoid giving other cough-and-cold medicines that may contain identical or similar ingredients.
